Teen Challenge Ranch of NW Arkansas admits boys ages 14-17 who have drug & alcohol problems, legal issues, and/or behavioral problems. It is understood that troubled boys may not be overly excited about coming to Teen Challenge, however, it is required that a prospective student be informed where he is going when being placed at Teen Challenge.

Parents/Guardians need to be prepared to place their child at Teen Challenge until he successfully completes the program.  The first 4 phases of the program are completed while your child is in residence at Teen Challenge (approximately 9-12 months).  The 5th phase of the program is completed after your child returns home (approximately 6-9 months).  During the "in-residence" portion of the program, parents/guardians will need to plan on attending each of the quarterly family "Reconnect" weekends.  These weekends are critical components to your child's success.

Our intake director is available to assist you with any issues related to admitting your child into Teen Challenge.

Admission Steps

Step 1 - Fill out an application and send it in.

You may download the application from our website, or you can contact us, and we will mail, email, or fax it to you. After the application is received, a preliminary decision will be made about whether an applicant should be admitted into the program. The parent or guardian will be notified of this decision within 2 business days. An attempt will then be made to set up a phone interview with the incoming student.

Step 2 - Complete and Return all Pre-Entry Packet forms.

The parent or guardian will be given a Pre-Entry Packet after their child has received final approval for admission. All Pre-Entry forms must be completed and returned at least 7 days prior to a student's entrance into the program.  Please do not wait until the last minute to complete paperwork.

Step 3 - Schedule an entry date.

A non-refundable entrance fee of $500 must be paid before a place is reserved for your child and before an entry date can be scheduled.

Intake appointments are scheduled on Monday mornings. Parents/Guardians arrive with their child at 9:00 AM. Opportunity is given for parents/guardians to say good-bye. The student will then be escorted to the dormitory where he will receive his uniform and basic gear. After all incoming students are ready, they will leave for their first outdoor adventure with one or more staff members and a few student leaders.

During this time, parents/guardians will have the opportunity to finish up any remaining paperwork. They will also meet with the Executive Director and Academic Director. Opportunity will be given to ask questions and to voice concerns. Parents/Guardians will then be given a tour of the campus. Parents/Guardians should plan to spend at least 2 hours at Teen Challenge on the day their child enters the program.

We have specific entry dates throughout the year. Below are the entry dates for 2012. Please note that entry dates are subject to change.

     January 9 July 16
January 30 August 13
February 20 September 3
March 12 October 15
April 16 November 5

Emergency Placements

In situations where the child must be placed immediately and cannot wait until the next scheduled intake date, an emergency admission can be scheduled.  An additional fee of $1000 is required for an emergency admission.  All paperwork must be in, and all deposits or fees must be paid before this emergency admission can be scheduled.  No admissions can be scheduled for the months of June or December.
